{"id":3412,"date":"2025-02-05T16:22:31","date_gmt":"2025-02-05T21:22:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.museebeaulne.ca\/?post_type=evenements&#038;p=3412"},"modified":"2025-05-05T13:58:18","modified_gmt":"2025-05-05T17:58:18","slug":"conference-return-to-walden-richard-seguin-in-the-footsteps-of-henry-david-thoreau","status":"publish","type":"evenements","link":"https:\/\/www.museebeaulne.ca\/en\/events\/conference-return-to-walden-richard-seguin-in-the-footsteps-of-henry-david-thoreau\/","title":{"rendered":"Conference \u201cReturn to Walden, Richard S\u00e9guin in the footsteps of Henry David Thoreau.\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Richard S\u00e9guin, a great friend of the Beaulne Museum for over 30 years and a contemplative hiker in the Appalachian Mountains, is graciously offering the community a conference entitled \u00ab Return to Walden, Richard S\u00e9guin in the footsteps of Henry David Thoreau \u00bb.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This conference pays tribute to Henry David Thoreau, a New England philosopher, naturalist and poet whose work \u00ab Walden, or Life in the Woods, a reflection on simple living in a natural environment \u00bb, illuminated his century and inspired ours. Thoreau is also the father of civil disobedience and notably influenced Gandhi and Martin Luther King in their careers.<br>The author, composer-performer and also visual artist, will present an exhibition of his work \u00ab Les silences de la partition \u00bb in connection with the conference.<br>\u201cFor me, engraving is the gesture that accompanies words. Just like we write songs, engravings are made of ink, light and time.\u201d<br>&#8220;For this exhibition, \u00ab Les silences de la partition \u00bb, I wanted to echo the songs that carry within them images perceived during musical composition. There are always silences in a musical score, because each note figure corresponds to a figure of silence \u2026 silences are an essential part of the score, the same goes for the rhythm in which I am writing.<br>This is why I make the link between the moments of creation by alternating between the birth of a song and the time I spend in my engraving workshop.<br>These moments are many silences that are part of my creative process. In my musical creation, my engravings are in some way the silences of the score &#8220;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Richard S\u00e9guin<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The first session will take place at 1:30 p.m. and the second one at 3:30 p.m.<br>Please reserve as soon as possible because places are limited.
