Grands maîtres. Artistes de la collection Norton

Musée Beaulne, 96 rue de l’Union, Coaticook, Québec, Canada, J1A 1Y9

Harry Norton, son of Arthur Norton, builder of the Norton Castle, which houses the Beaulne Museum, was a great lover of art and antiques. In addition to collecting works of art, he befriended many artists of his time. Artists such as Suzor Côté, Frederick Simpson Coburn, Cornelius Krieghoff, Maurice Cullen, and many others are part of his collection. In fact, some paintings from this collection were housed at the Norton Castle. Harry was also involved at the institutional level, becoming the president of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts for several years. The 50th Anniversary Celebrations of the Beaulne Museum are therefore a fitting opportunity to pay a vibrant tribute to him.

Comprising a dozen paintings, this exhibition is made possible thanks to the collaboration of several institutions through loans: the Sherbrooke Museum of Fine Arts, the Colby Curtis Museum in Stanstead, Bishop's University, Wales Home in Richmond, and the Éric Klinkhoff Gallery in Montreal.
